Learn about applications and examples of data science in research and business. Acquire skills to analyze and make decisions based on quantitative evidence.
In this class, students will learn about data science methods and applications, as well as practice using data analysis tools. The objective is to acquire data analysis skills that can be used in research and business. This class focuses particularly on the analysis of textual data as unstructured data and assumes the use of KH Coder, R and Python as the main analysis tools. However, in order to be accessible to those who are not familiar with statistics or programming, the lecture will explain the essentials of data analysis using examples from research and practice and simple processing in KH Coder, R and Python, avoiding as much as possible the use of formulae or complicated programming. This class will also discuss generative AI, such as ChatGPT, as a new trend in natural language processing.

データサイエンスを研究やビジネスに活用する方法と実例について学ぶ。また定量的なエビデンスをもとにした意思決定を行うための考え方を習得する。

本講義では、データサイエンスの手法と活用事例について学ぶとともに、データ分析ツールを用いた実践を行い、研究および修了後の実務に活かせるデータ分析スキルの習得を目指す。本講義では特に非構造化データとしてのテキストデータの分析に焦点を当て、分析ツールとして主にKHコーダー、R、Pythonを使用することを想定している。ただし統計学やプログラミングに馴染みがない場合でも理解しやすいよう、極力数式や複雑なプログラミングを用いず、研究や実務における事例やKHコーダー、R、Pythonでのシンプルな処理をもとにデータ分析の要点を解説する。あわせて、自然言語処理の新潮流としてChatGPTなどのいわゆるGenerative AIについても触れる。

データ分析等に必要となるためPCを準備すること。なお分析には主にKHコーダー、R、Pythonを用いることを想定している。
構造化データを主に扱うデータサイエンス1もあわせて履修することを推奨する。
本科目は、5年以上の実務経験を有する実務家教員による授業であり、全授業回数の50％以上がディスカッションなど双方向形式の授業によって運営されます。
