社会デザイン研究科では、教室での対面授業を基本としながら、同時に遠隔地在住の学生の学びを保証するため、オンラインでも受講できる形で授業を行う。なお、履修者全員の了承が取れた場合には、「対面のみ」もしくは「オンラインのみ」で授業を行うこともある。 |
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the SDGs. The ｃolorful badges of SDGs and the concept of sustainability has become widespread. However, as of 2024, only 17% of the SDGs are on the path to achieving them. As geopolitical risks such as conflicts in the Middle East continue to rise following Ukraine, extreme weather events caused by climate change on a global scale are intensifying, and the world is becoming more VUCA-like. Extreme weather events such as typhoons, floods, and droughts have had a significant impact on global food production and living infrastructure. Unfortunately, this extreme weather is also a consequence of human activity. CO2 emissions continue to increase, the average global temperature has risen by more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, and global warming is steadily progressing. Since the beginning of human agriculture, 1/3 of the world's forest area has been lost. In addition, as it is said that there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans in 2050, economic activities are damaging biodiversity and having a significant impact on the earth. It is said that 50 million people in the world are in a state of modern slavery behind the development of the economy. These environmental destruction and human rights violations are often directly caused by corporations, but behind them are the needs of consumers. In order not to make SDGs a failure, it is necessary to sustainably transform the lifestyles of us all consumers. Together with VM362,his course examines sustainability initiatives from the consumer's point of view by reading various related reports and documents by public authorities, business entitites, and civil society.
Being business persons, there are few chance to read reports and proposals directly. Usually, summarized documents by consultants will be enough for business use. But summarized documents are biased and reading full documents may have different messages and giving different messages/ In this course , we take time to read some of the epoch making reports in sustainability arena and discuss over the contents of these documents, and will acquire better knowledge and perspectives of each sustainability issues. This course is related to VM320, so it is preferable to take both course, since VM320 will cover the theoretic part and this course offers time to read reports related to the topic covered in VM320. The candidates of the reports and sometimes interesting articles are those related to SDGs, environmental issues, and social issues. The list is the candidate of reports to cover, since updated reports are more preferable.

本科目は授業回の全てにおいて、理論等学術的な知見を踏まえつつ、担当教員の実務家としての経験、または研究成果を活かし、教員と学生との双方向の討論を重視した実践的な授業とする。学生には、課題の発表や討論など、授業での積極的な参加を期待する。
今年はSDGsの発足から10周年を迎える。SDGsのカラフルなバッジが象徴する持続可能性の概念は日本社会でも広く浸透してきた。しかし、2024年段階でSDGsのうち達成に向けて進んでいるのは17%に過ぎない。世界情勢をみると、コロナ化に続き、ウクライナを契機に中東紛争などの地政学リスクが高まっている。更に地球規模での気候変動による異常気象が激化している。台風、洪水、干ばつなどの異常気象は、世界の食料生産や生活インフラに大きな影響を与えている。残念ながら、この異常気象は人間の活動の結果でもある。CO2排出量は増加の一途をたどり、世界の平均気温は産業革命前から1.5°C以上上昇し、地球温暖化は着実に進行している。人類の農業が始まって以来、世界の森林面積の1/3が失われた。また、2050年には海には魚よりもプラスチックが多く存在すると言われているように、経済活動によって生物多様性が損なわれている。そして経済発展の陰で格差は広がり、現在5000万人が奴隷状態にあると言われている。これらの環境破壊や人権侵害は、直接的な原因は企業にあることが多いが、その背景には消費者のニーズがある。SDGsが絵に描いたような餅になってしまうようなことのないよう、すべての生活者のライフスタイルを持続的に変革していく必要がある。このコースは、VM362と連動しており消費者の立場からのサステナビリティの在り方について、政府の報告書や企業発の情報を読み解くことで、考察していく。

この授業はVM362と連動し、サステナビリティの各側面について政府の政策の元となる報告書などを読むことに主眼を置く。社会人になると論文や提言など政策の前提となる文献を読んで勉強する機会は意外に少ない。要約文であったりコンサルタントなどの資料から内容を理解すれば業務上の要件は満たすことが多い。しかし、要約にはかならず要約した人のバイアスがはいるし、現物のメッセージとは違っていることも少なくない。現物を読んでみて気が付くことも少なくない。
そこでこの講義では①持続可能な社会づくりにエポックメーキングな提言となっている文献を時間内にしっかり読み、その内容について議論していくことで、持続可能な社会づくりのために必要な基礎知識を得る。この講座はVM３２０の講義に合致する文献を読むので、できれば両方受講することが望ましい。文献は、サステナビリティの基礎となる文献も読むが、状況に応じて最新の文献も目を通したい。よって、以下の文献は、前年までの講義で使ったものを掲載しており、必要に応じて変更する。
