Notes

【Course Objectives】

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to
● become familiar with methods and procedures of quantitative research in the social sciences,
● understand the results of statistical analysis,
● select an appropriate statistical method and perform a statistical analysis using SPSS, and
● interpret and present the results to people who are not familiar with statistics.

【Course Contents】

The purpose of this course is to create a strong foundation for conducting a quantitative study. Students will be trained in designing survey research, interpreting the statistical results, and analyzing the quantitative data. In order not only to understand but also to perform quantitative research, it is important that you understand the mathematical concepts behind statistics. Students will work on mathematical problems in and outside the classroom. What is possibly more important than the mathematical understanding is the skills to perform statistical analysis. Students will learn how to perform statistical analyses using SPSS, a statistical software.
