Notes

【Course Objectives】

This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the concept, approaches and practice of human security, which focuses on human being as the referent objective of security and constitutes the basis for sustainable peace and development.

【Course Contents】

The concept of human security emerged in response to shifts in the international political landscape following the end of the Cold War, the evolving role of the United Nations, and the growing awareness of human rights. Today, threats such as natural disasters, climate change, pandemics, and armed conflicts are interconnected in complex ways and are linked to multiple, overlapping threats. Adopting a human security perspective provides an effective means of grasping and appropriately responding to these global issues. In this course, students will learn the comprehensive concept and practice of human security through case studies spanning various sectors and countries.
