備考/ NotesNotes |
This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the concept of disaster risk management, its policy frameworks, and its cycle involving emergency response, rehabilitation and reconstruction, prevention and mitigation, and preparedness at the global, national, and local levels.
Disasters, once they occur, take the lives of large populations in an instant, and have a profound negative impact on the affected people's livelihoods. Dealing with such disasters requires not only immediate emergency response and promotion of rehabilitation and reconstruction in the affected areas but also prevention and mitigation and preparedness before a disaster strikes. Students will deepen their understanding of evolving disaster risk management concepts, policy frameworks at the global, national and local levels, and case studies in Japan and Asia.
