By the end of this course, students will be able to understand key concepts and theories in second language vocabulary acquisition and apply research findings to their teaching and learning practices. Topics covered will include the goals of vocabulary learning, the concept of "knowing a word," the roles of teachers, vocabulary learning strategies, multiword units, and vocabulary testing.
Through reading assignments, lectures, and group discussions, students will acquire basic principles of second language vocabulary acquisition. Students will also be asked to participate in a number of group activities to better understand the concepts and theories covered in class.

The following minimum level of English Language Proficiency is expected at the time of registration: TOEFL (iBT) 90 and/or IELTS 6.5.
By the end of this course, students will be able to understand key concepts and theories in second language vocabulary acquisition and apply research findings to their teaching and learning practices. Topics covered will include the goals of vocabulary learning, the concept of "knowing a word," the roles of teachers, vocabulary learning strategies, multiword units, and vocabulary testing.
