The aim of this course is twofold. First, students are to develop language teaching skills and the ability to development teaching material. Second, students are to experience the teaching of language through the teaching of English to EFL students.
The course focuses on the development of practical teaching skills. Students will learn about making goals and objectives, lesson plans and materials, and how to self-assess the implementation of said goals, objectives, lesson plans and materials.
Students will also be introduced to principles of task-based language teaching (TBLT), including the definition of tasks, different types of tasks (real-life vs. pedagogic; input-based vs. output-based; closed vs. open; here-and-now vs. there-and-then; unfocused vs. focused; teacher-generated vs. learner-generated), pre-task planning, task repetition, and task sequencing.
