【Course Objectives】

As a result of successfully completing this course, students should be able to:
1. understand the basic approaches in discourse analysis,
2. comprehend the notions of discourse analysis terminology,
3. apply notions developed in discourse analysis to other areas of study.

【Course Contents】

This course leads you to the field of discourse analysis by covering the major areas of discourse analysis such as society, pragmatics, genre, critical discourse analysis and multimodality. Students will have the perspective to understand verbal and non-verbal communication.

This course also focuses on how discourse analysis can be applied to other fields such as language teaching and media studies.

Students in this course consider how they can analyze language and non-verbal features from the perspective of discourse analysis.
