備考/ NotesNotes |
This is the introductory module for the Translation Professional Training Program. Students are expected to develop basic translation competence and techniques while attempting to translate many different text types, and thus considering why they translate in a certain way and what translation strategies are effective in different contexts.
This course is aimed at novice learners of English to Japanese Translation. Through practical seminars students are expected to read and thoroughly understand the English source texts and carefully select appropriate Japanese expressions. Along with acquiring basic translation skills, they also learn more professional skills such as terminology management and background survey techniques.
The use of computer-assisted-translation (CAT) tools, glossary preparation, self and peer review will also be included in the course.
