The globalized world evidences many cultural products such as literature or film made through inter-cultural contact or cultural hybridity. This course aims to help students analyze these cultural products theoretically from the cultural studies perspective.
Based on theories such as orientalism, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality, this course will interpret and discuss the transformation of culture, which is influenced by the transfer of people and capital across borders. It will also contemplate cultural representation generated by cultural contact, such as the representation of the “Other.”

グローバル化に伴う文化や言語の接触，混淆状況から生み出される，文学作品，映画作品などの文化表象を，世界史との関連において，文化研究の立場から理論的に論じ，考察することができるようになる。

人や資本の境界を越えた移動に伴う文化の変容や文化接触から生じる文化表象，たとえば異文化，他者表象について，オリエンタリズム，エスニシティ，ジェンダー，セクシュアリティなどの理論を踏まえて，解釈し，議論を行う。
