The primary objective of this course is to cultivate the analytical capacity to critique cultural representations -including novels, poetry, cinema, and visual arts- emerging from conflict zones and diasporic communities within the Middle East, by situating them at the intersection of historical trajectories and geopolitical dynamics.
This course explores literary works that address conflict or emerge from conflict zones, with a specific focus on the modern Middle East. Students will examine the socio-political contexts underlying the production and reception of these works. Through the lenses of postcolonialism, gender, and language choice, we will critically analyze how the act of writing serves as a mode of resistance against violence and power, what it seeks to represent, and the mechanisms through which such literature circulates globally.

履修する際「なぜこの作品は、今、この言語で、このように語られたのか？」という問いを常に持ち続けること。
本講義では、中東地域の紛争地および亡命先で生産された文化的事象（小説、詩、映画、視覚芸術等）を対象とし、それらが歴史的・政治的コンテクストと結びつくプロセスを批判的に考察することを目的とする。

本講義では、現代中東地域を中心に紛争を扱った／紛争地で生まれた文学作品を検討する。作品が生まれ、読まれる背景について理解し、「書くこと」がいかにして暴力や権力に抗い、何を表象するのか、さらにはそうした作品がいかに流通するのかについて、ポストコロニアリズム、ジェンダー、言語選択といった視点から多角的に分析する。
