In this course, students are expected to learn the methods of historical musicology thorough reading the critical editions of musical works. They will study the interpretation and analysis of the original sources and the genesis, reception and transmission of musical works.
This course aims to help students interpret the preface and the critical commentary on one of the volumes of Leipziger Ausgabe der Werke von Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. The original text is in German.

西洋音楽史研究の基盤である批判的校訂楽譜を読み解き、作曲家作品研究の方法論を理解する。過去の音楽作品がいかに成立し、当時いかに受けとめられたのか、こんにちに至るまでいかに伝承され、いかに変遷してきたのか（変遷しない要素はあるのか）、資料を用いたアプローチを学ぶ。

ライプツィヒ版メンデルスゾーン作品集（いわゆる新メンデルスゾーン全集）ないしそれに準ずる校訂譜のいずれかを取り上げる。序文と校訂報告の講読と作品分析を交える。原語はドイツ語。
