The purpose of this course is to deepen one’s perspective on the historical development of Japanese welfare policies through reading “Naissance de la Prison" by M. Foucault. Furthermore, students can promote their interest in these issues and link this to presentations at academic conferences and dissertation writing.
Reading “Naissance de la Prison" by M. Foucault, which is a classic text on the power of the modern State, we will consider the characteristics of the historical development of Japanese welfare policies through seminar discussions. Furthermore, "The Theory of Power" by A. Sugita is also used as a subtext.

この講義は、M. フーコー著『監獄の誕生』を読み解き、わが国の福祉政策の歴史的展開に関わる視座を深めることを目的とする。更にこれらの問題関心を深めて、学会発表や論文執筆に結び付けることができるようにする。

M. フーコー 著『監獄の誕生』の講読を進めながら、近代国家の権力及び監視・管理社会の実像に迫っていく。本講義は演習形式で行う。なおサブテキストとして杉田敦『権力論』も用いる。
