The goals of this course are to
(1) Deepen understanding of social security functions of post-war family and discuss the current welfare problems from the perspectives of sociology,
(2) Acquire the abilities to collect and interpret the statistical data for your own interest and research.
(3) Acquire the abilities to link the findings obtained through the class to academic presentations and paper writing.
Family is one of the social systems, along with public social security and economic activities(employment), which support people's social lives.Demographic and family changes, represented by the rapid declining birthrate and aging, pose a great threat to the core of social security systems and cause various welfare problems around employment and informal care(e.g. housework, childcare, and elderly care).
In this course, we review the recent theoretical or empirical research in family sociology and demography, and deepen understanding of the relationships between family and social security, and these historical changes.

文献講読は、主に量的調査データを扱った先行研究を扱うが、統計的知識については担当者が必要に応じて講義・補足説明を行う。
統計データに少しでも興味・関心があり、自身の研究で積極的に活用したいと考えている方を歓迎します。
（1）戦後家族の生活保障機能に関する理解を深め、現在の福祉問題を社会学的視点から議論できるようになること
（2）自身の研究に適した統計データを収集・解釈できるようになること
（3）授業を通じて得られた知見を学会発表や論文執筆に結び付けることができるようになること

家族は、社会保障や経済活動（雇用）と並んで人々の実生活を支える社会システムの一つである。少子高齢化に代表される人口・家族の変化は生活保障システムの根幹を大きく揺るがし、就労やケア（家事・育児・介護など）をめぐる福祉問題を顕在化させている。
本演習では、家族社会学や人口学における最新の理論・実証研究を中心に文献講読を行い、家族と生活保障との関連、およびその歴史的変化について検討する。
Family is one of the social systems, along with public social security and economic activities(employment), which support people's social lives.Demographic and family changes, represented by the rapid declining birthrate and aging, pose a great threat to the core of social security systems and cause various welfare problems around employment and informal care(e.g. housework, childcare, and elderly care).
