The goal of this class is to acquire the knowledge and thinking skills to take an academic and critical view of events and phenomena surrounding media and culture in modern society, primarily from a sociological perspective.
Now we are surrounded by a wide variety of media and culture. This class will cover specific and familiar topics such as the Internet, communication and new cultural examples on the Internet, media literacy, and the evolution of music listening. The aim is to examine the events and phenomena surrounding media and culture in modern society from a sociological perspective and to rethink them academically and critically. Please note that the content and order of the class plan may change depending on the number of students, etc.

本科目は授業回の全てにおいて、理論等学術的な知見を踏まえつつ、担当教員の実務家としての経験、または研究成果を活かし、教員と学生との双方向の討論を重視した実践的な授業とする。学生には、課題の発表や討論など、授業での積極的な参加を期待する。
本科目は、博士課程後期課程におけるコースワーク科目である。後期課程の受講者は、前期課程の受講者より高度な知識・スキルを身に付けることを目標としたうえで、成績評価基準についても、前期課程の受講者より高度な達成水準を要求する。
この授業では、現代社会におけるメディアや文化をめぐる事象・現象について、主に社会学的な視点から学問的／批判的にとらえる知識と思考力を身につけることを目標とします。

今日、私たちの身の回りには、様々なメディアや文化があふれています。この授業では、インターネットやそこにおける新たな文化事例・現象、メディア・リテラシー、音楽聴取の変遷など具体的な／身近なトピックを取り上げます。そして、主に社会学的な視点から考察を進めながら、現代社会におけるメディアや文化をめぐる事象・現象について、学問的／批判的にとらえなおすことを行います。なお、受講者の人数等により、授業計画の内容・順序等を一部変更する場合があります。
