The aim of this course is to acquire the basic knowledge and perspectives required for conducting communication research by reading a wide range of literature in Communication Studies and related fields. In addition, students will be able to identify concepts and theories that they can apply to their own research and incorporate them appropriately into their research for the improvements of their research.
By focusing primarily on communication research in the areas of Communication Studies and some related fields, students will learn major perspectives, concepts, and theories/models needed to conduct communication research. We will also learn the historical development of Communication Studies as a field of research and familiarize ourselves with recent trends in the field.

本授業の目標は、コミュニケーション研究に関する様々な知見に触れながら、コミュニケーションを研究する上で必要となる基礎的な知識を身につけることを目的とする。さらに、受講生は、自身の研究テーマに関連する概念、理論を授業内容から取り上げ、それらを自身の研究に適切に組み入れて活用し、研究を発展させることができる。

コミュニケーション学とその他の関連分野におけるコミュニケーション研究を取り上げながら、コミュニケーションを学術的に分析する際に求められる視点、概念ならびに理論･モデルを学んでいく。併せて、コミュニケーション研究の歴史や最近の研究動向についても取り上げる。
