Cultivate critical thinking skills for considering semantic perspectives from many different standpoints, and aim to apply them to the student's own theme of study on language and meaning.
While including lectures to introduce basic knowledge of semantics, we will read documents and conduct debates related to the themes treated in the class, to think about problems that exist within semantics. As themes of semantics in linguistics proper, lexical semantics will be treated mainly in this class.

意味論に関する様々な立場を批判的に検討していくための思考力を養い、それを学生自身の言語・意味に関する研究テーマに応用することを目指す。

意味論の基礎知識を紹介するための講義を交えつつ，設定したテーマに即して資料を読んだり討論を行う中で，意味論の持つ問題点について皆で考えてゆく。なお，言語学プロパーの意味論の具体的テーマとしては，語彙的意味論が中心となる。
