To understand what war is and its purpose in society. To search for ways to bring a conflict situation to a peaceful settlement.
To seek a means to end war between nations.
To match student's research (doctoral level) with war topics.
This course explores various perspectives on war and peace. Topics include the causes of war, economic impacts, the role of propaganda, war memories, and anti-war culture. We will analyze cases such as the Korean War, Japan’s "Peace Constitution," and contemporary global conflicts to examine the possibilities of preventing war. While lectures form the core of the course, student discussions will be encouraged to foster active learning.

本講義では、戦争と平和に関する多角的な視点を学ぶ。戦争の原因や経済的影響、プロパガンダの役割、さらには戦争体験の記憶や反戦文化について議論する。朝鮮戦争や日本の「平和憲法」、現代の国際情勢も考察し、戦争防止の可能性を探る。講義を中心に進めるが、学生の意見交換を重視し、主体的な学びを促す。
