Through reading texts on image, image theory, and/or art history, students will not only acquire a new way of thinking about the image/work of art but also be able to construct his/her critical framework for the image/work of art. Students should also be able to apply those new methods to his/her/their research.
In this course, students will read excerpts of C. Laurens, Little Dancer Aged Fourteen: The True Story behind Degas' Masterpiece (2018); F. Borzello, The Artists' Model (2010); and N. Broude & M.D. Garrard eds. Reclaiming Female Agency: Feminist Art History after Postmodernism (2005). Along with in-depth readings of these texts, students will participate in discussions and presentations to hone their critical thinking on the image and construct a new framework to study the image.

この講義では、各種のイメージ論の講読をもとに、美術作品などイメージの捉え方や考え方について理解を深めることを目標とする。また、履修生が応用的に新たなイメージ論を構築し、批判的に自らの研究に適応できることを目指す。
Through reading texts on image, image theory, and/or art history, students will not only acquire a new way of thinking about the image/work of art but also be able to construct his/her critical framework for the image/work of art. 最近の美術史研究のなかから、さまざまな視点やアプローチから女性を取り上げているものを講読したい。履修生の意見も考慮して最終的な講読テクストを決定する予定であるが、以下に講読文献の候補を掲げておく。E.ドガ《14歳の小さな踊り子》をめぐる論考であるC. Laurens著Little Dancer Aged Fourteen: The True Story Behind Degas' Masterpiece (2018);芸術家とモデルの関係への再考をうながす F. Borzello著The Artists' Model (2010);フェミニズム美術史の論文集 N. Broude & M.D. Garrard eds. Reclaiming Female Agency: Feminist Art History after Postmodernism (2005)。 講読を糸口として研究方法、理論への批判的な討論を行い、自らのイメージや美術研究の方法へと応用すること、特に研究対象の多視点に立脚する有機的なアプローチの構造を把握し、さらに発展させる方法を提起できることが求められる。
