Starting in Japan, we will examine the history of Christianity in Asia to identify political, social, and cultural issues in that history and deepen our understanding of them. Furthermore, we will discover the importance of a gender perspective for the historical study of Christianity in Asia.
Based on what you have learned in Seminar A5 (during summer term), you will further deepen your specific interest in certain field of the history of Christianity in Asia. For this purpose, you will engage in the reading of primary sources and in fieldwork and/or visits of relevant institutions. Then you will analyze the data you gathered in this process and present your findings in class. Throughout the course, time for discussion will be arranged after each presentation. We will be deciding the presentation schedule in the first class, so make sure to attend. You should decide which topic you would like to study during the term by the first class.

日本をはじめ、アジアにおけるキリスト教の歴史を省みて、そこに認められる政治・社会・文化的諸課題についての論点を整理し、理解を深める。さらにはアジア・キリスト教史の研究におけるジェンダーの視点の重要性に気づく。

演習A5（春学期）で取り扱った内容を踏まえて、アジア・キリスト教史に関する各自の研究関心を深めるために関連の一次文献の講読に取り組み、またフィールドワークや現地調査を行い、そこで得た情報を分析して演習内で発表する。全コースを通して発表後に討議の時間を設ける。初回の授業で一学期の日程を決めるので必ず出席すること。履修者は、第1回の授業までに学期中に取り組みたいテーマについて決めておく。
