Students will learn about the development and learning processes of infants, pupils, and students. They will understand the relevant psychological characteristics, and learn how to support the development and learning of children of school age.
Students will acquire the necessary psychological knowledge for understanding children and examine educational methods for supporting children’s development. Students will become knowledgeable of what is needed in education to support children’s learning and development, and develop the basic awareness necessary for teachers. Students will reconsider the common sense they have developed through their own schooling experiences and gain a deeper understanding of children and the role of the instructor.

幼児、児童及び生徒（以下、「子ども」と略記）の心身の発達及び学習の過程について、基礎的な知識を身につけ、各発達状況における心理的特性を踏まえた学習活動を支える指導の基礎となる考え方を学ぶ。
Students will learn about the development and learning processes of infants, pupils, and students. They will understand the relevant psychological characteristics, and learn how to support the development and learning of children of school age.
子ども理解に必要とされる心理学的知識を提示し、子どもたちの発達を支援する教育のあり方について検討する。子どもの学習と発達を支援する上で教育に求められるものが何であるのか、教師に求められる基本的な知識を身につける。履修生の自らの学校教育経験を通して培われた常識的教育観を問い直しながら、子どもとその指導者の役割について理解を深める。

参考資料が紹介されることがある。これらはもちろんのこと、授業内容に関連する文献を自分で調べることが望ましい。講義内容について他の履修者と議論することが望ましい。講義で紹介される事例は、「子どもたちは教室で何を学ぶのか」（東京大学出版会）など、拙著内で詳述されていることが多いので、参照してほしい。なお、大学の2単位の講義では毎時間予習復習をあわせて4時間の自主学習が必要であることが大学設置基準で定められている。それに見合う十分な学習時間を確保して学んでほしい。
