【Course Objectives】

Students will aim to be able to understand the social and systematic basics of contemporary education and contemporary issues from a sociological perspective.

【Course Contents】

1) Students will learn how the modern education systems in Japan and Western countries have been developed, and be able to understand ways of thinking about theories of modernization, schools and children. 2) Based on the diverse issues about the relation between education systems and contemporary society, students will discuss the effectiveness of considering sociological perspectives on education and inequality, and education-conscious societies, etc.
