Students will be introduced to the concept of comparative pedagogy, its significance and the current situation of the field. And when considering and discussing educational issues and educational policies, by looking at educational experiences of other countries, students can shine new light on their understandings. Also, by looking at results of comparative pedagogy, regarding other countries and regions, students should aim for a deeper understanding of not only education but also society and culture.
Along with an overview of comparative pedagogical theories, methods and histories, students will be introduced to the current situation and relevant issues. Students will be introduced to the main results of comparative pedagogy in specific detail. The educational methods and various relevant issues of different countries and regions will be eligible for research, but various countries with advanced economies in Europe and the Americas will be emphasized during the lectures.

比較教育学とは何か，その意義と現状について紹介する。教育問題や教育政策を考察・議論するときにも，他国の経験を参照することで，新たな角度から光をあてることができる。また比較教育学の成果をみることで，異なる国・地域について，教育のみならず社会・文化への理解を深めることも目的とする。

比較教育学の理論・方法・歴史を概観するとともに，現状と課題を紹介する。ついで，比較教育学の主要な成果を具体的に紹介していく。様々な国・地域における教育のあり方やそれらをめぐる諸問題が研究対象となるわけであるが，本講義では特に欧米の、いわゆる先進諸国に重点をおく予定である。
