Students will understand human development from a sociocultural-historical approach in three time scales of phylogeny, social history and ontogeny.
The basic knowledge of developmental psychology, focusing on the theory of mental development based on the socio-cultural historical (Vigotskian) approach, will be discussed to inquiry peculiarities of human beings. Students learn about the process of humanization in which humans become humans by examining the differences between humans and other apes, and the mentality of people under the school education system. Furthermore, students will deepen their understanding of human ontogeny by examining the development of symbolic functions such as play, drawing, and language. Specific examples will be introduced to consider them. Students are expected to engage in discussing any topics eagerly.

社会文化歴史的アプローチの立場から、系統発生、社会史、個体発生といった三つのタイムスケールで人間の発達を理解する。
Students will understand human development from a sociocultural-historical approach in three time scales of phylogeny, social history and ontogeny.
社会文化歴史的（ヴィゴツキアン）アプローチによる精神発達理論を中心に発達心理学の基本的な知見を紹介し、人間の特殊性を議論する。人間とその他の類人猿の違い、学校教育制度下の人々の心性などの検討を通してヒトが人になる「人間化の過程」について理解する。さらに遊び、描画、言語などの象徴機能の発達を検討することで人間の個体発生過程についての理解を深める。具体的事例を紹介したり、参加者と議論したりしながら進めることで理解の深化をはかる。

関連する文献を図書館などで調べ読むこと。他の履修者と自主ゼミなどを通して議論することが望ましい。なお、大学の2単位の講義では毎時間予習復習をあわせて4時間の自主学習が必要であることが大学設置基準で定められている。それに見合う十分な学習時間を確保して学んでほしい。
