【Course Objectives】

The full-time faculty members who make up the course in transdisciplinary culture studies will take charge of classes 2 to 3 times each and will introduce their own domains of specialization. The aim is for students to learn the fundamental ways of thinking and methodologies necessary for selecting their own specializations. In addition, even students who will not advance to transdisciplinary culture studies will become able to take a relatively high-level view of their own standpoints and ways of thinking by experiencing how to proceed with transdisciplinary academic research.

【Course Contents】

The class will draw on the relationships between regions and their environments to elucidate cultures, including culture related to livelihoods, material culture such as food, clothing, and shelter, and culture of human groups connected by kin and religion. Faculty members in charge will provide topics based on research conducted in their respective fields, and will perform lectures on the basics of their fields of specialization that are part of transdisciplinary culture studies.
