【Course Objectives】

This course enables students to learn humanities with the staff at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, for two weeks during the summer vacation.

【Course Contents】

This course is a short-term academic program to study the tradition, current trends, and future perspectives of the humanities at the prestigious Emmanuel College founded in 1584 as a part of the University of Cambridge. The 12-day on-site study programme is supervised by the college's full-time staffs, and the programme will also be attended by the college's current students majoring in Japanese studies.
In the spring semester, students learn a preliminary programme elaborated in collaboration with faculty members of Emanuel College, in which they prepare for the on-site study programme. The on-site programme consists of lectures, independent learning based on Cambridge-style tutoring, seminars, group work, and the submission of academic papers.
In the fall semester after returning to Japan, the participants will do presentations based on their learning experience in Cambridge.
