To assist the students in their ability to read, discuss, and analyze major themes in American literature.
The American Dream is a recurring theme in the nation’s literature. Using examples from literature and their film adaptations, this course will introduce students to the concept of the American Dream and show how this theme evolved as the nation developed.

Students are expected to complete the reading and homework assignments before class. Response papers must be typed and submitted on time as they are essential to participate in class discussions. Every student will be required to prepare a presentation to be presented in class.
