Focusing on Jewish Germans who lived in the late 19th century and early 20th century, this lecture aims to understand their ideas generated in the experiences of assimilation, symbiosis, and diaspora.
The first half of this lecture will give an overview of the history of assimilation and symbiosis from the 19th century to World War I. In the second half of this lecture we will focus on biographies and thoughts of representative intellectuals （such as S. Kracauer, W. Benjamin, E. Bloch）leaving Germany as exiles.

19世紀後半から20世紀前半の時代を生きたユダヤ系ドイツ人たちに焦点を当て、同化、共生、そして離散の経験の中で生み出された彼らの思想への理解を深める。
Focusing on Jewish Germans who lived in the late 19th century and early 20th century, this lecture aims to understand their ideas generated in the experiences of assimilation, symbiosis, and diaspora.
近代ドイツでは、反ユダヤ主義の脅威に晒されながらも、ドイツとユダヤの共生の文化が育まれた。しかし第一次世界大戦のドイツの敗北とナチズムの台頭により、ユダヤ人たちは亡命＝離散への道を辿る。講義では、19世紀から第一次大戦までの、同化と共生の流れを概観した後、亡命者となってドイツを離れていく個々の人々（例えばクラカウアー、ベンヤミン、ブロッホなど）の伝記と思想を読解する。
