Through learning about the connection between literature and politics/society, develop independent and critical thinking.
Centering on modern Japanese literature, we will study the relationship between literature and the state/authority; oppression/regulation of literature; and freedom of speech, press and expression. Although the class theme is literature, references to political systems and laws become highly numerous.

文学と政治・社会との関わりを学ぶことを通じて、主体的かつ批判的な思考を身につける。
Through learning about the connection between literature and politics/society, develop independent and critical thinking.
文学と国家・権力との関係、文学に対する弾圧・規制、言論出版の自由や表現の自由について、近現代の日本文学を中心に考察する。テーマは文学だが、政治制度や法律等への言及が非常に多くなる。
