How the Americas were "invented"
Using the texts of the early conquerors of the Americas, including Columbus, we will focus on the genealogy of the representation of the non-Western Other by the Western colonial discourses. Using conceptual devices such as "citation networks" and "textual attitudes", we will analyze various representative texts from Greek classics to modern times.

How the Americas were "invented"
コロンブスをはじめとするアメリカ大陸の初期征服者らのテクストを手がかりに、西洋世界による非西洋世界の「他者」表象の系譜を明らかにする。「引用のネットワーク」や「テクスト的態度」、「オリエンタリズム」等の概念装置を用いて、古代ギリシアから近代までの様々なテクストを分析する。
Using the texts of the early conquerors of the Americas, including Columbus, we will focus on the genealogy of the representation of the non-Western Other by the Western colonial discourses.
