【Course Objectives】

Understand the post-war Japanese economy development process and have a long-span perspective of the Japanese economy up to the present time. Understand that those growth mechanisms and their limitations come with internal and external discontinuity and require new responses.

【Course Contents】

Attempt to grasp the structure of the Japanese economy by recognizing the historical development process of the Japanese economy, namely although post-war Japan moved from losing the war to riding the momentum of economic recovery to achieve rapid economic growth and become an economic power, the Bubble Economy and its subsequent collapse initiated a period of long-term recession while also focusing on the limitations of Japanese type welfare, which faces financial problems, the energy problem after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the reorganization of the international division of labor accompanying the appearance of emerging industrial countries in East Asia. In addition, during the 13th week guest instructors will be invited to explain new issues.
