【Course Objectives】

In this lecture students will acquire the knowledge necessary to understand the contemporary securities market and develop the ability to think about why the hypertrophic phenomenon of the currently rapidly growing securities market is occurring and how this will develop in the future.

【Course Contents】

The roles and functions of the securities market have been greatly changing since the 1980’s due to the globalization of and increased use of information technology in finance. In this lecture students will gain an understanding of the basic structure of the contemporary securities market while considering the historical changes to the market and what impact this has had on the securities industry and banking industry. In particular, the cumulative phenomenon of financial assets, such as government bonds and stocks, which are traded on financial markets, has expanded under the managed currency system and students will gain a deeper understanding of why and how this came to be.
