A discussion of topical issues in Economics to make it interesting for students to learn the underlying subject content as well as to practice reading, listening and expressing themselves in the English language.
This course applies the Quantitiy Theory of Money in macroeconomics and traces global events, to understand the lack of inflation in the last few decades contrary to theory, yet accelerating inflation in the last two years.

The study material for this course will be referenced in the lecture slides as weblinks. They will all be freely available internet resources or articles. |
Each class will be divided into 2 parts. The first half will be a lecture presentation using powerpoint slides. The second half will be group discussions, with 4 or 5 students per group. A member of each group may be required to present the group's findings.
It would be helpful if students bring along an internet accessible device (tablet, laptop) for use in group discussion.
