People are not rational entities that traditional economics thinks, but rather irrational entities that make mistakes and get carried away by emotion. Students will learn about the new field of economics called behavioral economics that considers people as irrational entities and then consider how that can be utilized to analyze a variety of economic problems and social problems and what kind of policy proposals they make possible.
Behavioral economics is a new field of economics that incorporate the results of psychology and rather than looking at problems addressed by traditional economics, such as how people consume and invest, it can be applied to a variety of problems, such as methods that are effective for supporting health, education, the poverty stricken, and developing countries. In this seminar students will study the basics and applications of behavioral economics and debate and discuss them in nearly every class. In addition, also planned are a welcome training camp in March, summer training camp in September, and a joint seminar with other universities in November.

人間は伝統的な経済学が考えてきたような合理的な存在ではなく、間違いも起こせば感情にも流される非合理な存在です。人間をこのような非合理な存在と考える行動経済学という経済学の新しい分野を学び、それを用いるとさまざまな経済問題や社会問題がどのように分析され、どのような政策提言が可能なのかを考えます。

行動経済学は、心理学の成果を取り入れた経済学の新しい分野であり、人間がどのように消費や投資をするのかといった伝統的な経済学が扱ってきた問題だけでなく、健康や教育、貧困者や途上国支援の有効な方法など、さまざまな問題に応用することができます。このゼミナールでは、この行動経済学の基礎と応用の勉強を、ディベートやディスカッションをほぼ毎回取り入れながら行っていきます。また３月には新歓合宿、９月には夏合宿、１１月に他大学とのジョイントゼミを予定しています。
