【Course Objectives】

People are not rational entities that traditional economics thinks, but rather irrational entities that make mistakes and get carried away by emotion. Students will learn about the new field of economics called behavioral economics that considers people as irrational entities and then consider how that can be utilized to analyze a variety of economic problems and social problems and what kind of policy proposals they make possible.

【Course Contents】

Behavioral economics is a new field of economics that incorporate the results of psychology and rather than looking at problems addressed by traditional economics, such as how people consume and invest, it can be applied to a variety of problems, such as methods that are effective for supporting health, education, the poverty stricken, and developing countries. In this seminar students will study the basics and applications of behavioral economics and debate and discuss them in nearly every class. In addition, also planned are a welcome training camp in March, summer training camp in September, and a joint seminar with other universities in November.
