【Course Objectives】

The objective of this course is for students to acquire the basic knowledge and skills necessary for conducting career counseling (career guidance) in schools and the workplace.
The objectives to be achieved are as follows.
・Understand the positioning of occupational (career) guidance and career education.
・Be able to organize and provide knowledge regarding occupations, such as occupational information and occupation classifications.
・Be able to explain the theories regarding career consulting (career counseling).
・Be able to properly use the tools (assessments).
・Be able to hold discussions based on cases through group work and role playing.

【Course Contents】

・To use data about employment trends and problems to get an overview of the situation and to deepen understanding of the positioning of occupational (career) guidance and career education.
・To use practical work to learn the methods for using the tools (assessments) necessary for grasping career consulting representative theory and individual characteristics.
・To organize the knowledge regarding occupations, such as occupational information and occupation classifications, and to use practical work to learn the basic theory and methods of career counseling.
・To use role playing to think about the psychology of the person asking for advice and also learn the importance of listening.
