The aim of this course is to understand basic ideas of continuum mechanics and fluid mechanics.
Liquid or gas are treated as 'fluid'. We learn the fundamentals of fluid mechanics using the perfect fluid and some applications in more realistic cases.

流体力学の基本的な考え方を理解し、流体の力学平衡や運動の問題を解けるようになる。
The aim of this course is to understand basic ideas of continuum mechanics and fluid mechanics.
力学の授業ではマクロな物体の運動として剛体の運動を学んだ。しかし水や水蒸気を考えると、これらは変形したり流れが存在するため、剛体としてそれらの運動を記述することはできない。このような物体を「流体」という。流体の運動は、それを構成する質点（分子や原子）の運動方程式を解くことで理解されるはずだが、アボガドロ数(~10^23)個ある運動方程式を解くことは現実的には不可能である。「流体力学」という分野では、流体を各点での密度や速度で表現し、その基礎方程式を現象論的に与えて様々な現象を研究する。授業では、前半2/3程度は流体力学の基本的な考え方を完全流体の範囲で学び、後半1/3程度はより現実的な流体に関する話題を紹介する。
