The objective of the course is to enable students to understand sociological issues such like education, family, poverty and so on, and to grasp the meaning of changes in working and living with the development of globalization. The course also seeks to improve students' skills of reading academic English.
Students of the course will read and discuss on the base of articles and materials. Students are required to read the assigned sections of the book or articles in advance and alternately deliver discussion papers of Japanese summary or translation according to the assignment in class. Other requirements are to submit feedback papers on the topic discussed in class three times during the entire course.
