What are the characteristics of the contemporary Japanese family from historical and international perspectives? The goal of this lecture is to understand the process by which the "family" was established in modern society and its transformation, taking into account the transformation of social structures in postwar Japan due to globalization.
Family and intimate relationship issues are often considered personal problems. However, they change dramatically with time and social structure. To understand contemporary family issues, it is essential to understand the social structures and social changes surrounding them.
In the first half of the lecture , students will learn about the family and life course changes in modern society. The second half of the lecture will consider the current state as well as the future of the family through topics related to contemporary family issues such as the partnership system, diversity in sexuality, and economic disparity.

現代日本の家族は、歴史的、国際的にみてどのような特徴があるのか。本講義では、グローバル化にともなう戦後日本の社会構造の変容を踏まえながら、近代社会における「家族」の成立とその変容を理解することを目標とする。

家族や親密な関係の問題は、身近で個人的な問題と考えられやすい。しかしそれらは時代や社会のあり方によって大きく変わる。現代の家族問題について理解するためには、それを取り巻く社会構造、社会変動について理解することが不可欠である。
講義の前半では、近現代における家族とライフコースの変化を学ぶ。後半ではパートナーシップ制度やセクシュアリティの多様性、経済的格差など現代の家族問題に関するトピックを通じて、その現状と将来を考える。
