【Course Objectives】

We understand our actions and experiences using various methods in our everyday lives. We will consider the "member's methods" used in the practices of daily communication and care. The aim of this class is to acquire the ability to analyze the methods in everyday life or within social problems.

【Course Contents】

We understand our actions and experiences, using various methods in our daily lives. In this seminar, we will consider the methods and methodology we actually use in our everyday lives. Participants are required to acquire the ability to set up their own questions while understanding previous research in related fields, such as communication studies, identity studies, sociology of health and illness, and sociology of emotion etc. They are also required to acquire the ability to analyze the data of specific phenomena using the methods of qualitative research, such as ethnomethodology. In the first half, participants will set up their own interests by reading previous papers and analyzing data in tutorial. In the second half, according to the research interest of each participant, we will conduct empirical research. Based on these tasks, participants will acquire the ability to research for their graduation theses.
