Studying hobbyist activities from the viewpoint of media and communication
This course provides an opportunity to consider hobbyist activities so called serious leisure from the viewpoint of media and communication.
In the first semester, students will consider their own purpose by researching about sociological studies of hobbyist activities and mediated communication. Hence students organize groups to identify research questions and hypotheses and collect data by themselves. In the second semester, students discuss the result of each group research. Students are required to use Microsoft Excel to input and analysis data.

Studying hobbyist activities from the viewpoint of media and communication
この専門演習は，シリアス・レジャーなどとも呼ばれる形で一定の知識や技術を要する、スポーツや工芸・芸能などの趣味的な文化活動について，メディアとコミュニケーションの観点から考えることを目的としている。
春学期は文化活動およびメディア・コミュニケーションに関して社会学的な考察を展開しているテキストを講読することで，各自が調査するテーマを固めていく。春学期の後半から秋学期にかけて，調査グループを構成して調査テーマを設定し，独自の仮説を立てた上で，それを検証するためのデータをオリジナルに収集しながら，実証的な研究を行なう。秋学期の後半にはグループごとに調査の結果報告を行い，その内容について議論を行う。分析用のデータを整理するために，エクセルによるデータ入力と操作に慣れておくことがのぞましい。グループごとの作業時間を確保するため，こちらが指定したゼミ後の時間は空けておくこと。

サブゼミの時間に各グループでの発表準備や調査活動を行う。また履修者には，ビデオ分析・内容分析（テキストマイニング）の手法について，ソフトウェアを用いた実習への参加を義務付ける。
