Students will analyze globalizing modern society from the dimensions of media, communication, and culture. They will develop the analytical skills to critically consider the reality of society and form a global mind.
The course introduces the origins and developments of global communication historically and examines the significant discussions in the field. Then, the development trends in East Asia are analyzed and considered while focusing on the local situation in each country and region. Finally, we discuss theoretical paradigms and discourses on global communication trends and reevaluate them from today's perspective.

グローバル化とデジタル・テクノロジーの発展で変わっていく社会を, メディアとコミュニケーション, そして文化の次元から考察し, 社会のリアリティを批判的に考察する分析力を養う。
Students will analyze globalizing modern society from the dimensions of media, communication, and culture. They will develop the analytical skills to critically consider the reality of society and form a global mind.
グローバル・コミュニケーションの起源および展開状況を歴史的に考察し, 主要な議論について解説する。そして東アジア地域における展開動向を, 地域固有の状況やグローバルトレンドとの関連で, 分析・考察を行なう。その上で, グローバル•コミュニケーション動向をめぐる理論パラダイムや諸言説を紹介し, 今日の視点で再評価する。
The course introduces the origins and developments of global communication historically and examines the significant discussions in the field.
