Sociology of music is the study which thinks the society through musics. The common sense in each societies changes a lot by the era or the region. In this class, we confirm such changes of common sense through observing music, especially Japanese nursery rhymes. Students will be expected to get the skill of analyzing the culture which continues changing.
Text book is "Doyo no Hyakunen" (Chikuma Syobo, 2018), written by the instructor. This book treats the circumstance which our general and contemporary image about Doyo was materialized and have permeated.

音楽社会学は、その名の通り「音楽を通じて社会を考える」学問である。個々の社会における常識（ものの見方や思考の枠組み）は決して不変・普遍ではなく、時代や地域が変われば大きく様変わりする。この授業では、音楽（特に童謡）に注目することを通じて、そうした社会常識の変化を確認し、もって現代を「相対化」することを試みる。受講生には、現在進行形で変容する文化を分析するための視座を獲得してもらいたい。また併せて、提示されたテクストを能動的・批判的に読む姿勢も身につけてもらいたい。

授業担当者が2018年に発表した書籍『童謡の百年』を教科書に用い、社会と音楽との関係を具体的事例に沿って考えて行く。なお同書は、「童謡」に対する我々の一般的・今日的イメージ（「日本人の心のふるさと」）が、どのような経緯のなかで成立・浸透してきたのかを追跡するものである。
