The goal of this course is to familiarize students with basic concepts and theoretical perspectives related to global studies. By the end of the course students should have developed a broad base of knowledge in the field of global studies, as well as a better understanding of the curriculum of the College of Intercultural Communication.
Instructors will take turns giving lectures on a range of topics related to global studies, including cultural identity, international relations, poverty, gender, film studies and comparative arts and literature, with a shared focus on the role of intercultural communication in the process of globalization.
