【Course Objectives】

As this study abroad program occurs in the fall semester of second year, students should aim to develop intermediate-level practical Chinese-speaking ability.

【Course Contents】

Students should aim to acquire sufficient language skills to ensure they can handle a wide variety of situations at their study abroad destination. Lessons will be carried out twice a week and include language practice to help students develop the conversational ability needed for living in a Chinese-speaking country, sufficient listening ability to make out what native speakers are saying and communicate their own ideas in Chinese. Specifically, using materials such as videos and images, we will reenact the particular conditions of each situation and use Chinese to carry out focused conversation practice such as student role playing. Through this process we will improve practical Chinese communication skills, not limited to consolidating vocabulary, but also including sentence structuring skills.
