【Course Objectives】

This course will provide students with an overview of important figures, concepts, and research in the field of Intercultural Communication (ICC). The primary goal of this course is to train students to approach content with an ICC mindset, particularly the concepts of Hofstede’s six dimensions and Bennett’s DMIS model. The secondary goal of this course is to provide students with engaging case studies for analysis and reference as they explore ICC further.

【Course Contents】

Once a week, there will be a lecture sharing a core concept of ICC, along with related case studies. Students are expected to take notes on these lectures and use the key points in later work. There will be short weekly quizzes based on the previous week’s lecture. Coursework is made up of individual readings, discussion and reflection, and a final presentation on a case study and its relationship to one or more core ICC concepts. A final test will review the core concepts of ICC and assess understanding of key case studies.
