The purpose of this course is to develop understanding of communication and communication studies, especially in relation to language, linguistics, and pragmatics.
This course starts with exploring some general issues concerning “communication,” “academic discipline,” and “perspective,” and moves to deal with the basic frameworks of linguistics and pragmatics. Then, it presents an overview of the three models of communication, explores their distinctive characteristics, including their relationships with domains covered by language studies, and delves into micro-social processes and effects of communication.

特にことばや言語研究と関係づけて、コミュニケーションとその研究が持つ意義や射程についての理解を育むことを目的とする。
The purpose of this course is to develop understanding of communication and communication studies, especially in relation to language, linguistics, and pragmatics.
まず「コミュニケーション」や「学問」、「視点」などについて簡単な考察を行った後、言語学や語用論の基本的な考え方を学ぶ。続いて、コミュニケーションについてのいくつかのモデルを概観し、それぞれのモデルの持つ性格、言語研究が対象とする諸領域との関係、コミュニケーションの過程や空間の有り様などを把握する。
