【Course Objectives】

- Identify basic concepts and methods of fieldwork as a research method.
- Explain advantages and limits of each method.
- Discuss some ethical considerations about fieldwork and other ethnographic research methods.
- Do mini-fieldwork during the course.

【Course Contents】

Fieldwork is a basic research method for a range of social science students and scholars, including cultural anthropology. This course provides an opportunity to overview its goals, history and methodologies (in-person & virtual), and to reflect on some ethical considerations. Students make a mini-research proposal, practice some fieldwork and finally present their research outcomes.
