The goal of this seminar is for students to determine themes for Senior Research and Thesis by connecting their awareness of various issues to academic themes, and classes are conducted to help students master the fundamental elements (research methods and the like) required to make that determination.
Discourse analysis and conversation analysis are two ways to clarify the kinds of knowledge that are communicated with language, and the processes by which they are communicated. Discourse analysis is an analytical method that began in earnest in France in the 1960s, and conversation analysis is an approach that originated in the United States of America and then spread to France. They are both research methods that relativize language as the research subject, and have been adopted in the fields of language education and acquisition to clarify the kinds and processes by which language-related information is communicated using language inside and outside foreign language classrooms.
The purpose of this Advanced Seminar is to teach students basic knowledge and fundamental analytical skills regarding discourse and conversation analysis by having them carefully read whole and excerpted literature written in Japanese, French and English, identify themes related to their own language use or language education and acquisition, and use specific analytical resources to consider their themes in practical terms. Students will do preparation work for writing their graduation theses in parallel with their work in this course.

各自の問題意識を学術的なテーマと結びつけることで「卒業研究」のテーマを設定することを目標とし，そのために必要な基礎的な事項（研究方法など）を身につけるための授業をおこなう。

ことばによってどのような「知」がどのようなプロセスに従って伝達されるかを明らかにする方法として「ディスクール分析」と「会話分析」がある。「ディスクール分析」は主として1960年代にフランスで始められた分析方法であり，「会話分析」はアメリカで生まれ，その後フランスでも展開されているアプローチである。ともにことばを研究対象として相対化する研究方法であり，言語教育・習得の分野にも導入され，外国語の授業内外においてことばによってことばに関係するどのような情報がどのようなプロセスによって伝達されるのかを明らかにするために用いられている。
本専門演習では，「ディスクール」あるいは「会話分析」に関する基本的な知識の習得と基礎的分析能力の養成を目指し，日本語，フランス語あるいは英語で書かれた文献あるいは複数の文献からの抜粋を精読するとともに，履修者自身にことばの使用あるいは言語教育・習得に関してテーマを設定してもらい，具体的な分析資料体を使ってそのテーマについての考察を実践してもらう。この作業と並行して，卒業研究（論文）執筆のための準備作業をおこなう。

学生の報告あるいは提出物について，口頭あるいは筆記によってコメントする。
やむを得ず休講となった場合，内容を繰り下げて補講日に補講をおこなうか，それに代わる課題を出す。
学期期間中に、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大などによって開講形態を変更せざるを得ない場合は、大学の指示に従ったうえで、速やかに周知する。
