【Course Objectives】

1) Students will apply key concepts/theories in gender studies to one’s senior research/thesis project.
2) Students will design research and collect data for one’s senior research/thesis project.
3) Students will further develop an understanding of feminist theory and its theoretical and practical roots.

【Course Contents】

The aim of this seminar is to engage in critical discourse on the concepts and theories in gender studies. Students will connect their study of feminist theories & criticisms as well as masculinities to planning, researching, and writing a thesis (senior research) about a gender issue from a critical perspective. In Advanced Seminar 2, students will discuss specific research methods in gender studies. Students will also learn how to analyze data/images for one’s senior research/thesis project. Finally, students will develop one's research project (thesis) by applying relevant concepts/theories in gender studies, employing an appropriate research method, and collecting data.
