【Course Objectives】

The goal of this course is to help students to understand the key principles and concepts of international environmental law and to explain their characteristics and basic architectures of several multilateral environmental treaties.

【Course Contents】

This course is designed to provide an introduction of International environmental law, It will survey the basics of international environmental law, beginning with an overview of global environmental challenge and core legal principles including sustainable development, precautionary principle/approach, intergenerational equity, common but differentiated responsibility, common heritage of mankind. It will cover several legal regimes such as climate change, ozone layers, biodiversity, marine pollution, CITES, trans-boundary pollution.
